St Vicente
The simulacrum of St Vicente is located in Igreja Paroquial de St Nicolau, in Porto’s riverside area. According to various surviving religious prints, the relics were brought from Rome on December 21, 1785, at the request of Tomás de Rocha Pinto (1748-1815)—a merchant and steward of the Brotherhood of the Blessed Sacrament of St Nicholas.
Carlos de Passos (1935) notes that the simulacrum originally arrived under the name of St Clemente, but the local population soon began referring to it as St Vicente. The alms and devotion to the saint were so abundant that the name endured.
Today, it is no longer an object of worship.
