The simulacrum of St Fulgêncio is located in the altarpiece of the second side chapel on the Gospel side of the Igreja de St Maria Madalena. A paper cartouche placed near the feet of the simulacrum bears the Latin inscription, which can be translated as “Holy Body with a vessel of the blood of St Fulgêncio, Martyr”. This indicates not only the presence of relics, but also the inclusion of a vessel containing the saint’s blood, further reinforcing the sacred status of the ensemble.

In February 2025, a technical study was carried out, including the visual inspection and photographic documentation of the simulacrum of St Fulgêncio. During the visit, the blood vial was observed, and a superficial cleaning was performed on the front glass panel and on some areas of the body that showed significant surface dirt due to the previous breakage of the glass. An endoscopic examination was conducted to allow internal observation of the structure, and a small number of material samples were collected for further analysis. Due to the presence of the enclosing glass, no radiographic examination was performed at this stage.
