St Vicente

O simulacrum is located inside the altar of the retable in St Michael’s Chapel, belonging to the Major Seminary of Coimbra. The altar-urn, made of polychrome and gilded wood in Rococo style, has a glazed front opening through which the simulacrum is visible.

The head, slightly inclined to the right, rests on a pillow. At the top of the head, a flower crown is visible, decorated with polychrome paper (white, beige, and green), and golden metallic leaves and wires. Except for the flower crown, no other martyrdom attributes were found.

O simulacrum enverga uma túnica longa em tafetá bege, bordada com fios de seda policromados (branco, rosa, salmão, verde e preto), folha dourada e prateada, e fios dourados e prateados, formando pequenos motivos florais. Ao nível das pernas destacam-se duas aberturas retangulares que permitem visualizar os ossos no interior. Na cintura, sobre a túnica, existe um cinto largo em tecido de cetim azul-escuro, decorado ao centro com passamanarias douradas. Por fim, um manto, preso ao pescoço, prolonga-se até aos pés, cobrindo os ombros, braços, antebraços, coxas e pernas. O simulacrum apresenta luvas em renda metálica prateada e calça sandálias abertas.
